High Anxiety At JSU
This week's Jackson State at Southern football game at Baton Rouge seems to have an unusual amount of pregame drama. First, JSU coach Rick Comegy said he had heard about the "hostile situation" inside and outside of the glorified high school stadium the Jaguars call their home field. Comegy apologized and was reprimanded by the SWAC. But he will be allowed to coach the game.

USM QB Out
The Clarion-Ledger reports that Southern Miss quarterback Jeremy Young is expected to miss two to five weeks after suffering an ankle injury during Thursday night's 38-16 loss at Boise State. Young, a former Provine star, suffered a high ankle sprain midway through the third quarter, effectively ending USM's slim hopes of a comeback.

The New Orleans Saints fell to 0-3 with Monday night's 31-14 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Is it too early to bury them? And here's more bad news: Deuce McAllister suffered a season-ending knee injury for the second time in three seasons.

From MSU: Mississippi State's football game at South Carolina, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, will be televised by Lincoln Financial Sports (Ch. 12 in Jackson).

Adams To Start For Rebs
The battle at quarterback at Ole Miss is over (for now). The school announced Friday that coach Ed Orgeron had named Seth Adams, a Hinds CC alumnus and former walk-on, the Rebels' starting quarterback for the season opener at Memphis.
A Saintly Return
New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister has told local fans that the Saints' desire to return to Jackson this week for training camp at Millsaps College was based on two things: conditioning and karma.
