Rankine Lecture Postponed, Panel at Millsaps

Poet and playwright Claudia Rankine has postponed her lecture at Millsaps College due to inclement weather in New York. The 2016 McArthur fellow and Frederick Iseman Professor of Poetry at Yale University, was scheduled to speak on her book, "Citizen."

Rather than canceling the event, Millsaps will instead host a panel featuring several scholars and writers, including Tougaloo College chair and assistant professor of English Ebony Lumumba; poet and Jackson State University instructor of English C. Liegh McInnis; and "Free Men" and "The Story of Land and Sea" author Katy Simpson Smith.

Lumumba, McInnis and Smith will answer audience questions and share some of their favorite segments from Rankine's book. The event is free to attend and takes place Friday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. in the recital hall at Millsaps' Gertrude C. Ford Academic Complex (1701 N. State St.).
