OS Continues Fight Against Mental Health Clinic

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) — The city of Ocean Springs is taking a fight over a location for a mental health clinic to the Mississippi Supreme Court.

Jackson County Circuit Judge Robert Krebs ruled Dec. 21 that the city erred in denying a use permit to the Psycamore mental health clinic.

The Mississippi Press reports (http://bit.ly/W2uY9q) that the board of aldermen voted this week to appeal Krebs' ruling.

In November of 2011, aldermen voted 5-1 to deny a use permit to Psycamore, which wanted to open a clinic in an area zoned commercial.

In his ruling, Krebs said much of the argument by the city and local residents who opposed the clinic were "more speculation than fact."

Psycamore ultimately opened a clinic in Biloxi.
