According to Pitchfork and the band Website, The Beta Band have decided to call it a day. This is especially sad, given the creative dynamic on their latest release, "Heroes to Zeroes." It finally appeared as though they had hit their stride, but alas.

From The Beta Band website: "Sadly, eight years of hard work and critical acclaim but little return in terms of commercial success inevitably takes its toll and a group decision was made to finally lay the band to rest. "

A U.K. farewell tour is in the works for fall, dates T.B.A.

They will be missed by many, myself included.
