USM Set to Join the Sun Belt Conference

The University of Southern Mississippi announced on Tuesday, Oct. 26, that the school’s athletic programs would be leaving Conference USA. The Golden Eagles will be joining the Sun Belt Conference no later than 2023.

Makai Polk

Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Makai Polk enjoyed his best day as a college player. He made big catch after big catch when Rogers needed to keep the Bulldogs moving down the field. Polk caught 13 passes, which is fourth-best in school history. Kylin Hill and Eric Moulds caught 15 passes in a game and David Smith once caught 14 passes in a game.

Isaac Carter: New Head Coach at Millsaps

Millsaps College named head football coach Aaron Pelch full-time athletic director in January 2020, leaving the school in need of a full-time head football coach. After searching, Millsaps hired Isaac Carter for the role. Carter previously held the position of defensive coordinator and full-time professor of kinesiology at Mt. San Antonio College, a community college in Walnut, Calif.

Injury forces Mississippi State to change QBs for Music City

Mississippi State graduate transfer Tommy Stevens now will start at quarterback in the Music City Bowl after freshman Garrett Shrader suffered what coach Joe Moorhead said is only an “upper body injury.”
