College Football Preview: UM and MSU Bowl Games
The NCAA waived the requirements for accepting a bowl bid due to the coronavirus, which means both Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi are able to go bowling.

Freshman guard Jaron Pierre Jr. was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week for his play against Tulane University and the University of South Alabama. He averaged 18 points and eight rebounds against those two teams.

All-Outstanding Player Trophies for Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in One Night
Due to COVID-19, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum and C Spire announced it will wait to hand out its awards for outstanding players. Normally near the end of December the hall announces the winner for the Conerly Trophy.

On Friday, October 23, Jackson State University announced that legendary former head coach W.C. Gorden passed away. Gorden is the winningest coach in JSU football history. He was 90 years old.

In Jay Hopson's place, co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Scotty Walden was named the interim coach for the University of Southern Mississippi football team after Hopson left.

Jarod Conner, also known as “Snoop” on the UM roster, didn’t have the fastest start to the 2020 season. Against the University of Florida, Conner ran the ball eight times for 26 yards with a touchdown and one catch for five yards.

Against the Mean Green, USM rushed for 202 yards as a team with freshman running back Frank Gore, Jr. leading the way with 130 yards. It has been rough for the Miami, Fla., native as he has struggled to get going until that point.
