The women's college basketball season tips off on Friday, Nov. 11, with a full slate of action.

Get ready for a full weekend of sports as college football continues and college basketball returns. The men's and women's basketball seasons tip off around the nation this Friday.

The USM Golden Eagles and the UM Rebels can get bowl-eligible if both can win this weekend. But the way this football season has gone, it seems more likely both will lose and stay home.

After Southern Miss welcomed quarterback Nick Mullens back from injury, the Golden Eagles won enough to be eligible for a bowl game. USM will play in a bowl for a second consecutive year after an up-and-down season.

It's Egg Bowl week in our state. A player from Mississippi State or the University of Mississippi will have a chance to gain immortality in Bulldog-Rebel lore by making a big play on Saturday.

Alcorn State blew out Grambling State 49-21 to win back-to-back SWAC football championships. The Braves set championship game records in total offense (613), rushing yards (411) and points (49).

Celebration Bowl Preview

The first-ever Celebration Bowl will feature this year's SWAC champion, the Alcorn State University Braves, against this year's MEAC champion, the North Carolina A&T University Aggies.

It is a long shot, but at 5-8, the New Orleans Saints are still alive in the playoff race. They will need to win out and get help to get into the postseason.
