Dear, Deserving Dad

June 17 is fast approaching, and there's no better time to make Dad feel special. Make your pop proud on Father's Day with any of these great gifts from local shops around town.

Chic at Security

I was at the security checkpoint in the airport last week with approximately 14 minutes until my departing flight. Of course, as fate would have it, I was trapped behind someone who had to de-robe from lace-up wedges and remove 97 bracelets. I'm all about accessories, but in this situation it's important to remember that it is possible to be stylish and comfortable without lots of extras while traveling.

Seersucker Friday

When @FlyJFP Twitter followers make a request, I try my best to deliver. I hear that there are people around town who adhere to the rules of Seesucker Fridays from Easter to the end of the summer. So when they asked for a spread, I was out the next day scouring the city for all the seersucker I could find.

Show Mom She's Special

Mother's Day (May 13) is coming fast. Are you ready? Although most moms would be satisfied with a hug and an "I love you" on their special day, we suggest you up the ante this year and show her how special she really is with a memorably great gift. Here are a few suggestions from around town.

The Shades of Spring

You guys already know my thoughts on accessories: More is more, and this includes sunglasses. We can never have too many pairs. We have multiple handbags and multiple cars, so it's only natural that we have a pair of sunglasses for each. After all, it is important to protect our eyes, and we must look great while doing so

Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Does one make a list for the Easter Bunny? Or is that just Santa? Regardless, the bunny is on his way, and this year I decided to put together a guide for him. I'd be happy if he blesses my basket with any of these great gifts that I've seen around town.

The Rest of the Story

A good stylist always has options. We show up to a shoot with more clothes than we need, just in case. That means we always have pieces or looks that we love but just couldn't work into the current assignment. Here are a few of my favorites that didn't make the spring fashion shoot (see page 20) but could well be in your wardrobe for the upcoming season.

What Happened to Winter?

It seems that winter almost completely passed us by this year, which means our local stores still have stock. Lucky for us, most fall and winter merchandise is marked down, making now a perfect time to scoop up some basics for next year. While I was out around town, I found some excellent things that will be great to work into next winter's wardrobe.

I Believe in Love

Valentine's Day often gets a bad rap. Some think it's too sappy, and others think it should be called "Singles Appreciation Day." Regardless of whether you're in a relationship, I believe Valentine's Day is a day to acknowledge love—love for yourself, love for your family and friends, love for your significant other and love for life! Happy Valentine's Day, y'all.

I Do, I Do

When someone's getting married, you can usually count on several parties and showers in addition to the wedding itself. And all require gifts, of course. Jackson's local stores have fantastic selections for every wedding-related event, whether you're the giver or the receiver.

Holiday Hands

I had a hard time getting in the holiday spirit this year, but that quickly changed once I got my spirit fingers. I recently made a visit to AQUA the Day Spa to let Keisha Alexander show me the hottest shades for the holidays, and let me tell you—sparkles get me every time.

For the Little Angels and Demons

Sometimes shopping for the kids can be tough, especially when you don't know what the young ones are into these days. This year, it doesn't have to be hard, because we've found a few items around town that will make any kid light up with excitement.

Sugar and Spice

Need a few gifts for the gals on your list? Maybe you're in search of something special for your leading lady. Our local shops have so many great gift items right now that you almost can't go wrong. But regardless, we've got you covered.

Hair for the Holidays

If you're like me, you're in the full swing of holiday season, and your weekends are booked solid with parties and gatherings. It's pretty much a given that your outfits will be on point, but what about your hair? I recently caught up with my girl Kate McNeely at La Cru Salon for a little lesson on how to do my hair for the holidays.

Gift Guide for Him

There's no one more fun to shop for (besides myself!) Than my man. But during the holidays ,we sometimes find that we need a gift for the other men in our lives. You can easily pick out something different, cool and useful for your guy in your area's local shops. Any of these items are certain to suit his fancy.

Layering 101

Layering makes me happy, because it's the perfect way to maximize my entire wardrobe regardless of the season. When you find a way to wear a strapless mini dress year round, it's one less thing you have to move to your "summer closet." Perhaps my favorite thing about layering, though, is mixing prints.

The Zombies Are Coming

The zombies are set to invade Fondren this Thursday, Oct. 27, for the first ever Zombie Charity Crawl, which will benefit the Mississippi Optometric Foundation.

Gold and Orange and Red, Oh My!

When it comes to color, I'm usually an equal opportunist. But since fall officially arrived and the temperatures are changing, I seem to only be able to focus on one side of the color wheel.

Fall ‘11 Trend Report

Ready for fall fashion? If not, then may I present the Trend Report, where we view upcoming trends and styles for the fashionista in you.

Man Shoes

Women. Love. Shoes. But we don't just love our own. We take notice in a guy's shoes, too. We get it when a fella is concerned about his kicks. I mean, who wants to be seen around town as best dressed, but only from the ankles up?
