The murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay college student in Wyoming, led to the passage of federal hate-crime legislation as well as several books, film and plays, including “The Laramie Project.” A recent incident at a performance of “The Laramie Project” at Ole Miss reignited nationwide discussion of LGBTQ issues.
