Tony Yarber and Chowke Antar Lumumba are headed to a run-off election in the 2014 special election.

Chokwe Antar Lumumba, son of the former mayor, led by only 10 votes going into a run-off election against Councilman Tony Yarber. Both candidates got 31% of the vote in a field of 13 candidates in the emergency election for mayor after Mayor Chokwe Lumumba died in office in February.
First-term councilman Melvin Priester, Jr., who was endorsed by U.S. Congressman Bennie Thompson, came in third place with 15% of the vote; long-time councilwoman Margaret Barrett-Simon received 11% of the vote. State Senator John Hohrn and former mayor Harvey Johnson rounded out the top 6.
The runoff is scheduled for April 22, 2014.

Tony Yarber is the real everyday person for everyday people. His endorsements came from the people not high profile lawyers or Washington . Sadly enough JFP doesn't support the regular folk it pretends to support by endorsing a high profile, inexpericend candidate name Antar.

K - I told a buddy of mine. We can't worry about who gives us support and we can't bad mouth their candidate at the same time.
We just gotta press on and show why Tony is the best candidate. Everything else will fall in place. Yes indeed!
