HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — State transportation officials say a project to add a landscaped median, pedestrian signals and crossings, and new turn lanes along U.S. 49 in Hattiesburg should be completed in three weeks.
Dave Steele, a project engineer for the Mississippi Department of Transportation, tells the Hattiesburg American (http://hatne.ws/Ze5qI0 ) that crews worked this week to complete the landscaped median, along with pedestrian signals.
He says beginning next week workers will put down new asphalt overlay. Lane striping to be performed the following week.
The project is costing about $1 million.
