Several events are scheduled today to honor the victims of 9/11 as the ten year anniversary of the terrorist attacks approaches.

At 11 a.m. Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr., officials from Entergy, and the city's fire and police department will host a 9/11 Day of Remembrance Program at the Legion Field Softball Complex (4500 Officer Thomas Catchings Drive).

Jackson Public Schools host the following events today:

• 9/11 Remembrance program with Hinds County Sheriff-Elect Tyrone Lewis at Siwell Middle School, 9 a.m.

• Remembering the Fallen Heroes of 9/11 Program at Van Winkle Elementary School, 9 a.m.

• 9/11 Commemoration Program at Cardoza Middle School, 9 a.m.
