harbingers of spring (fever)

I know, we all know, it is February 23. But who cares! It feels like April! Its so warm! And sunny!

Check out these harbingers of spring and the fever they presage!

These are purple archangles, aka red/purple deadnettle. They are a member of the mint family and one of the first things I think of blooming here in the spring.
Along with this sweet flower

which is known as spring beauty (or Claytonia virginica). Its not so white as it looks in this photo, its got a pink tinge with darker pink lines on the petals.

Those are wildflowers. Too, other things bloom! I've seen forsynthia, quince, buckeyes, all sorts of things popping out all over.

What are the first flowers you notice blooming? What would it matter? What does it mean when vegitation turns over a new leaf on winters grey cold? What does that mean about what we could be doing? I bought some lettuce starts today. They gonna grow and be happy
