Forbes.com put Millsaps College back in the news again, when it ranked the Jackson school as the best in the state based on educational quality, student experiences and their achievements. The 2009 rankings, compiled by Forbes and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, put Millsaps at No. 101 in the nationwide survey of 600 schools, which Forbes says accounts for only the top 15 percent of the more than 4,000 undergraduate schools in the country.

Previously this week, Forbes put the Jackson college high on its list of best buys, Millsaps College was also named one of "The Best 371 Colleges" by The Princeton Review receiving special recognition as one of the Top 20 colleges for "Lots of Race/Class Interaction." The college was also one of only 24 private colleges nationwide and the only college in Mississippi named a "Best Buy" in the 2010 edition of Fiske's Top Financial Finds on the College Tuition Market.

At the top of the Forbes list is the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.:

The best college in America has an 11:30 p.m. curfew. It doesn't allow alcohol in the dorms, which must be kept meticulously clean. Students have to keep their hair neat, their shoes shined, their clothes crisply pressed. They also receive a world-class education, at no cost, and incur no debt--except for a duty to their country.

In this, the second Forbes "America's Best Colleges" list, Ivy League Princeton University dropped from first to second place. Other Mississippi schools on the list were Mississippi College, Mississippi State University, the University of Mississippi and the University of Southern Mississippi.
