The case of Alabama linebacker Jimmy Johns just keeps getting weirder. Johns, who was named The Clarion-Ledger's Mr. Football in 2004 after leading Brookhaven High to the Class 4A state title, was arrested Tuesday on felony drug charges in Tuscaloosa. Bama coach Nick Saban promptly kicked the alleged cocaine dealer off the Crimson Tide football team. Saban should be used to this sort of thing by now.

Now comes word that Johns also has a side business raising pit bull terriers. However, dealing pit bulls is legal. Johns even endorsed his pit bull Web site (an NCAA violation). And another site, where Johns bought two dogs, distanced itself from the Crimson Tide entrepreneur.

You might remember that Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom angered Johns during a recruiting visit when Croom privately told Johns that he would never play quarterback at Alabama. Johns spent much of the last three years griping about how the MSU coach had dissed him. Croom was wrong, Johns did play QB for the Tide, briefly, and it was a disaster.
