Business Week writes the scariest thing I've ever read about the Bird Flu.

I would like to add that I usually don't get into "hype" about things like this. One certain guy in my life likes dire news warnings. Or rather, I'm constantly getting an article from him with the title "WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE" or something like that.

Its become a running joke.

The day before Katrina I was at home holding out that extra six hours before buying bottled water because I was so sure "it wasn't going to be a big deal" . He, in the meantime, was calling the house every hour screaming "WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE."

I just kept thinking, "Get a handle on it, man."

Well, uh, turns out he was right about that one.

You would think that makes me listen to him more, right?

No, sir. I'm horribly hard-headed and just get even angrier when he again tries to warn me of current events.

But, about this whole flu thing. I think he might be right.

I mean, when people start talking about "military enforced quarantines", I start to get a little freaked out. I mean, isn't that normal? To get freaked out, I mean? Aren't you a little freaked out? Or, are you now?

Should we murder all the chickens?

Dear-Lord-in-Heaven I hope PETA didn't hear me say that....

Ali, I'm less freaked about dying from Bird Flu than I am about dying because I get hit by some moron going 55 down Old Canton in a huge SUV. We are all going to die - but you may get hit by a bus years before that virus mutates into a deadly form.

Kate-I'm right there with you on small women in HUGE SUVs that don't know how to drive the damn things. But, I'm still freaked out about the Bird Flu. I keep eating lots of Keifer's...I figure the garlic, although not great for my love life, might help with my immune system. Eat more Keifer's, Live Thru the Bird Flu. ;)

Kate-I'm right there with you on small women in HUGE SUVs that don't know how to drive the damn things. Yes, and miraculously, they think they're safer because they're surrounded by all the metal that makes up those Crimes Against Humanity. They definitely scare me more than bird flu. It's a clear and present danger. You ought to see how many of these things park in our parking lot to visit the glamour-shot studio and then can't seem to turn them around to get out of the parking lot! There is so better things to do with money than fill those monsters up. Really. And if anyone who drives one is offended, I don't care. You are driving a stupid vehicle that affects people around you, not to mention our country's security. Personal responsibility, folks.
