This week, Mississippians got in an up roar when several news outlets referred to our state as the "Landmass" between New Orleans, LA. and Mobile, AL. It has made the rounds on Facebook and Twitter with a post even of the JFP site.
Before the college football season begins I always read a ton of articles, look at posts and graphs from around the web. Last night as I was checking out ESPN, I ran across a http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/visuals/post/_/id/7945/infographic-college-coaches-in-numbers">post on coaches in college football.
I would have thought nothing of it until I started looking at coaching changes. The carousel of coaching changes is always hard to keep up with so I decided to take a long look at the list.
I noticed something when I got to the Southern Mississippi coaching change. ESPN has moved USM from Hattiesburg, MS to the state of Massachusetts.
Don't believe me? I blew up the picture to show it and I have a link back to the original article. No wonder the national media thought we were just a "Landmass".
