I'm excited to announce that members of the JFP's editorial and design staff have won numerous honors in the 66th Annual Green Eyeshade award, including our first ever "Best in Division" award, receiving the top honor among all non-daily print publications in the contest.

The JFP won Best in Division for a series of stories on the Mississippi state flag, with editor Donna Ladd, reporter Arielle Dreher, photographer Imani Khayyam and art director Kristin Brenemen all named for their contributions. That package also won first place in the "Public Service in Non-Daily Journalism" category.

In addition to the overall award, Arielle Dreher won first place for General New Reporting and third place for Public Affairs Reporting and for Courts & the Law Reporting. Donna Ladd won first place for Serious Commentary and the staff won second place for Editorial Writing.

The http://www.greeneyeshade.org/">Green Eyeshade Awards recognized the best journalists in the southeastern U.S. via the Society of Professional Journalists.

Additionally, we've been informed that the JFP staff is a Finalist in the 2016 Association of Alternative Newsmedia's awards in two categories: Free Speech ("Taking on Secretive PACs") and Public Service ("The Fight to Change the Mississippi Flag") Categories. Cross your fingers!
