Sales Tax Holiday in Time for School Clothes

Mississippi's 2013 Sales Tax Holiday begins Friday, July 26 and runs through Saturday, July 27. During that time, shoppers will not need to pay the state's 7 percent sales tax on eligible items of clothing—from athletic socks to workout gear.

In general, individual items of clothing and shoes that sell for less than $100 are eligible for the tax discount. Accessories, most sports-related items and any article priced at $100 or higher are not eligible. For a complete list of rules and eligible items, download the Mississippi Department of Revenue's http://www.dor.ms.gov/docs/sales_SalesTaxHoliday2012.pdf">Official Guide For The Sales Tax Holiday.
