Tonight, Aug. 1: ‘Know Your Rights’ Forum

The Mississippi NAACP is hosting a free forum Aug. 1. From the press release:

The not guilty verdict of George Zimmerman in the death of Trayvon Martin has young people everywhere saying they feel afraid, concerned, confused, and questionable about their rights. The Jackson City Branch of the NAACP in conjunction with the Magnolia Bar Association and the A. Phillip Randolph Institute are hosting a “Know Your Rights” Forum on Thursday, Aug. 1, in an effort to provide some answers and advice. The forum will take place in the Masonic Temple Auditorium and starts at 6 p.m.

Get your questions answered from local attorneys about the Mississippi’s Castle Doctrine law and other gun laws. Find out how recent events impact our youth and the next steps to take to ensure safety. Young people must be equipped with the knowledge about their rights and the tools to protect their lives by understanding the law.

The “Know Your Rights” Forum is free and open to the community. The Masonic Temple is located at 1072 W. John R. Lynch St. For more information, call the Mississippi NAACP at 601-353-8452.
