[verbatim from the city of Jackson] The City is gearing up for the 2013 Summer Youth Camp & Safety Expo which will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Metrocenter Mall. The event is a collaborative effort to provide alternatives for summer activity and to educate families on safety during the summer season.
The expo will feature free bike helmets (limited supply), Ident-A-Kid ID’s (limited supply), arts and crafts, a space jump, cotton candy, popcorn, and more.
The 2013 Summer Youth Camp & Safety Expo is being sponsored by the City of Jackson, Metrocenter Mall, United Way of the Capital Area, Safe Kids of Mississippi, United Health Care, the Hinds County Sherriff’s Office, AmeriCorps, and WJMI.
The City is also encouraging local businesses or organizations to participate by becoming a vendor for the expo. For more information, contact Family and Youth Division Manager, Greg Riley at 601-960-2174.
