A 2007 Mississippi law prohibits all abortions except when necessary to preserve a woman's life or in cases of rape. Violations are punishable by imprisonment of one to 10 years. The law is to take effect after state attorney general Jim Hood (pictured) determines that the U.S. Supreme Court has overruled Roe v. Wade and that it is "reasonably probable" the law would be upheld in court.
