Mattress Firm and Unwind Come to Flowood

Toby Shenefelt, president of Mississippi-based retailer The Unwind Company, recently partnered with Mattress Firm to include an Unwind branch inside a newly opened Mattress Firm store at 259 Ridge Way in Flowood.

The store, one of several Unwind locations in the Jackson metro area, is called Stressless Zone and features a line of Norwegian furniture and other products designed to provide healthy back support. Shenefelt says the company is also developing a "mini zone" with similar product offerings at the Mattress Firm at 219 Garden Park Drive in Madison.

Shenefelt started Unwind as a side business out of his Brandon home in 1997 while working full time as vice president of a company called Business Communications, Inc. At the time, he was operating a free radio station called Unwind Radio and began purchasing small massage and back-care items, selling them out of his home to help pay for internet bandwidth.

He incorporated in 2001 and opened the first Unwind store in Crossgates in 2002, moving to 3911 Highway 80 E. in Pearl about three years later. In addition to the new Mattress Firm location, Shenefelt has another Unwind store inside D Noblin Furniture (312 Airport Rd. S., Pearl).

Mattress Firm and Unwind Stressless Zone are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, call 601-714-1914 or visit mattressfirmms.com or unwind.com/stressless-recliners.
