David L. Archie

Why does Ward 3 need you on the Jackson City Council right now?

Citizens of Ward 3 need David L. Archie because I can be the ambassador it needs to get things done. I have an economic plan which includes bringing jobs to the ward. The plan also includes chasing crime out of Ward 3, bringing property value up and decreasing abandoned property in the ward.

Provide one or two examples of when you have been an advocate for Ward 3 in your personal or professional life. What was the result?

I have gone before the mayor and city council as a voice to ensure the streets were paved. As a result, some streets were paved and others are continuing to be repaired and/or paved. In addition, I organized and led a protest to require local restrooms to be opened for public use in convenient stores. The first convenient store protest was held in Ward 3. Due to the protest, restrooms at convenient stores are opened to the public throughout the city.

In the past year or so, what was the most important vote the Jackson city county has taken for Ward 3? How would you have voted and why? What is the most pressing issue for Ward 3 currently facing the city council?

I feel the most important vote was for the minimum wage increase for those city employees who reside in Ward 3. If I were a city councilman at that time, I would have voted for the minimum wage increase. One of the best ways to encourage employees is through a pay increase. In my opinion, the most pressing issue currently facing the council is how to deal with crime, especially hard core crime in Ward 3 and throughout the city.

If you could propose one ordinance that would greatly improve the quality of life for people in Ward 3, what would it be?

I would propose an ordinance that would prevent a "known" drug dealer or prostitute from loitering at anytime. (strolling up and down the streets, standing outside of stores and on street corners, etc.)

If you are unsuccessful in winning the Ward 3 race, how will you support the elected council member and Ward 3?

As an advocate for the people, I will continue to attend council meetings and bring issues/concerns of Ward 3 forward. I will meet with the Ward 3 council person as necessary and push the agenda forward.
