Mississippi Legislature Ends Session as House Adjourns

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — The Mississippi Legislature has ended its three-month 2015 session.

The House wrapped up its final pieces of business during a short meeting Thursday, a day after the Senate finished its work and went home.

The House on Thursday passed Senate Bill 2258, which would tighten sanctions for schools found cheating on state tests. The bill had already passed the Senate, and it goes to the Gov. Phil Bryant.

The House also sent the governor Senate Bill 2804, which would take away civil-service protection from Department of Corrections' employees for one year.
