OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — University of Mississippi Chancellor Dan Jones says his treatment for lymphoma "continues to go as well as possible."

In an email to university employees and alumni Thursday, Jones says he is gratified by early good results of his treatment at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

The 65-year-old says he expects to remain hospitalized for several more days, and will begin his next round of chemotherapy after Thanksgiving.

The university announced his illness Nov. 6.

Jones has been chancellor since 2009 and usually works on the main Ole Miss campus in Oxford. The university says is taking personal time off, when needed, for medical care. Provost Morris Stocks is serving as the senior university executive when Jones is unavailable.
