Kayla Paul-Lindsey

Kayla Paul-Lindsey, 45, does not require a lot of sleep, which works out well for a woman who has her hands in everything. Paul-Lindsey is a gospel recording artist, president of the Leadership Greater Jackson Alumni Association and the operator of her own CPA firm in Jackson. She's also the mother of three boys.

Originally from Nassau, Bahamas, Paul-Lindsey graduated from Mississippi College in 1994 with a bachelor of arts in accounting. After returning to the Bahamas for three years, she came back to Mississippi and graduated from Belhaven University with a master's degree in business administration in 1999. Since then, Paul-Lindsey has worked as an adjunct professor in accounting principles at Belhaven College until 2001 and Hinds Community College until 2013. She currently teaches at Virginia College.

Paul-Lindsey is the 2013-2014 Leadership Greater Jackson Alumni Association president. She became involved with the organization in 2010. With more 1,000 members, Leadership Jackson exposes leaders in Hinds, Madison, and Rankin counties to different facets of city government such as health and welfare, education, business and the criminal justice system.

With Leadership Jackson, Paul-Lindsey has helped in various advocacy programs, including assisting the City of Jackson with the 1 percent sales-tax revenue initiative and helping the Youth Leadership Jackson program of the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership. Paul-Lindsey also helped identify challenges surrounding minority participation in public radio. She plans to pass on her gavel June 26.

The Rankin County resident also serves on the Rankin County Chamber of Commerce board, St. Paul's Catholic Church choir and St. Paul's finance committee, and is the Rankin County Rotary Club treasurer. Paul-Lindsey graduated from the Leadership Rankin program last month.

This week, Paul-Lindsey is even busier. She is competing in the Women's National Bowling Championship in Reno, Nev. Her firm sponsors a women's bowling team on Monday nights.

"That is the way I relieve stress and tension," she said.

Paul-Lindsey's first gospel album will be released this fall. Luckily, Paul-Lindsey said she does not need a lot of sleep, and she has excellent time-management skills.

"When most people are watching TV, I'm doing something else," she said.
