Man Accused of Raping Ex-Girlfriend 7 Times

GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a Greenwood man has been charged with raping his ex-girlfriend on seven different occasions and threatening her with a gun if she reported the assaults to police.

The Greenwood Commonwealth reports that 35-year-old Demetrius Harley was charged Wednesday with a long list of crimes. The charges include seven counts of sexual battery, two counts of possession of a weapon by a felon and shooting into a dwelling.

Deputy Police Chief Johnny Langdon says Harley's ex-girlfriend finally got the courage to report the incidents. She signed an affidavit alleging that Harley would kick in the door, rape her and tell her he would kill her if she called police.

The gun charges stem from a shooting early Monday after Harley allegedly lost a fistfight with another man.
