New Openings; Fondren Parade Planning


Jackson Business Accelerator Program Manager Michael Harris is seeking proposals for his organization to fund business development.

New Business Openings

The Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership will celebrate the grand opening of Paco's Margaritas Mexican Grille at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13. The restaurant is located at 6340 Ridgewood Court Drive in Jackson and is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday 11 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday. One week later, on Jan. 20, the Chamber will mark the grand opening of Express Cleaners, one of the first retail tenants in One University Place--a mixed-use development next to Jackson State University's campus. The opening starts at 10 a.m. at 1100 Lynch St., Suite 8.

Volunteers Needed For Fondren Parade

The Fondren Association of Businesses will host an interest meeting Jan.17 for volunteers and businesses interested in participating in the "Zippity Doo Dah" parade featuring Jill Conner Browne and the Sweet Potato Queens. The three-day event begins March 24 and the parade is on the evening of March 26. The meeting will provide the parade route, event schedule and encourage community participation.

The interest meeting is Jan. 17, 5:30 p.m., at Sal & Mookies (565 Taylor St.).

Business Proposals Sought

The Jackson Business Accelerator, a nonprofit organization that provides technical and professional development, is accepting proposals from businesses seeking a contract to make development presentations, host seminars and other events to strengthen the business community.
