If his ability to juggle a phone interview while whipping a breakfast bagel is any indication, Nate Coleman is going to make one heck of a restaurateur. Coleman, a Jackson native and trained culinary chef is bringing a new eatery to the capital city that will occupy Koinonia's space, according to a new release from the coffee shop.

In an interview with the Jackson Free Press today, Coleman said he and proprietor Lee Harper have discussed a partnership for several months in which breakfast and lunch menu items would expand under the banner Nate's Deli and Grill along with the existing coffee house. Coleman said that there could be minimal changes to the decor. Koinonia's popular event, Friday Forum, would also remain intact.

"It's an important part of the community," Coleman said.

Coleman offers a preview of some of the new menu items on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 5:30 p.m. For $5, guests can sample hot roast beef sandwiches, three-cheese macaroni, rosemary mashed potatoes, a mixed cheese tray, season fruit and dessert items.

Peavey Shreds

Guitar Player magazine has awarded its editors' pick award to Meridian-based instrument and sound equipment maker Peavey for its Session Guitar. The magazine's editors called the guitar crafted of basswood, hard-rock maple and rosewood "a magnificent machine for shredders and rockers alike."

The guitar world has been singing to Peavey's tune since the company's founding in 1965, communications manager Jim Beaguez said.

Beaguez said the company's reputation in the music business stems from its focus on innovation. "We're known for bringing guitar-making into 21st century," he said. "We brought quality and consistency to the market."

C Spire Grows Network

Wireless provider C Spire will expand its mobile broadband coverage in Alabama, Tennessee and parts of Mississippi. The $10 million upgrade to 238 sites will bring broadband services to a much broader of communities, the company said. The project should be complete by January 2012.

Tea, Toys and Tots

McAlister's Deli in Clinton will hold a grand re-opening this Saturday, Dec. 10. The deli will unveil the remodeled restaurant and a tea bar. During the event, McAlister's will host a toy drive to benefit Toys for Tots.
