Barbour: Don't Panic

photo

Gov. Haley Barbour wants Mississippi residents to stay calm about the oil spill creeping toward the Gulf shore, reports Canadian Business. The spill has been putting 5,000 barrels, or 210,000 gallons, of oil into the ocean every day since the April 20 explosion that sank a British Petroleum oil rig 50 miles off the Louisiana coast.

Barbour told Canadian Business that most of the slick is "a very, very, very thin layer of oil residue," and that the possibility exists that the oil could have minimal impact. On the other hand, there could be "disastrous" results, he said.

This morning, the Coast Guard said that BP has managed to cap one of three leaks at the site of the disaster, but "the work is not expected to reduce the overall flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico," reports The Sun Herald. BP will attempt to drop a giant, 100-ton dome on the spill Thursday to capture and siphon off the gushing oil.

Yeah folks. Like Rush Limbaugh says, it's just nature. Shucks, Barbour's just a fat ole redneck. He don't know nothing bout no oil and such. Hold your horses. What's all the fuss about? God made oil, he put it on the Earth for man's benefit. Maybe God wants all that oil swimming around out there. Don't let the radical left tell you otherwise.

Isn't it STRANGE that Barbour is so relaxed about a situation that will ruin the financial lives of so many people. Also, just think of all of the destruction for many years to come. Most Republicans are trying to put a good face on this tragedy. I can't believe that the "Party of No" isn't giving President Obama even more hell about the spill. Could it be that too much pocket change comes from the BIG oil giants? Just asking.
