High School Seniors Honored

A state panel approved changes to the statewide grading system for schools today.

The Jackson Council PTA/PTSA will honor the top 10 graduating seniors from each of Jackson's high schools this evening. Hosted by Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr., the annual Salute to Scholars will take place at the Jackson State University e-Center at 1230 Raymond Road starting at 6 p.m. Each honoree will receive a certificate and the event includes a reception for the seniors and their families.

"One of the goals of the Jackson Council PTA/PTSA is to celebrate the accomplishments of our students," said Kevin Green, president of the organization in a statement. "We take great pride in this annual event because it gives the entire community a chance to know about these JPS students who have maintained high goals throughout their high school careers. We are delighted to host this event and invite the community to join us in honoring these scholars."
