College baseball: Southern Miss to face Mississippi State. Tonight's game will be the first time the in-state rivals have played at Trustmark Park in Pearl.
Women's college basketball: NCAA South Regional, Delta State 50, Ouachita Baptist 49. The Lady Statesmen rally in the final minutes to earn a second straight trip to the Elite Eight.
Women's college basketball: Mississippi State going to the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs are in the Big Dance for the first time since 2003.
Men's college basketball: NCAA sniffing around Arkansas. The investigation regards possible recruiting violations involving unnamed athletes from Mississippi, including at least one from Mississippi.
College football: Millsaps QB headed for Great White North. All-American Juan Joseph, the winner of the 2008 Conerly Trophy (and the Jacksonian in the JFP's Aug. 20, 2008, issue), has signed with the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos.
