The weather isn't the only thing hot this weekend. Here are a few options, courtesy of the JFP Event Calendar, Best Bets and Music Listings.

Tonight, come out for fun and support a good cause at Hal & Mal's Red Room. The Bachelorettes headline at the Chick Jam starting at 9 p.m., with proceeds going towards this year's $20,000 goal for the Center for Violence Prevention's new batterer-intervention program. This is the first of several planned events surrounding the 5th Annual JFP Chick Ball, which takes place in late July.

Start your evening a little more sedately by heading to the Regency Hotel for the Medgar Evers Homecoming at 7 p.m., or show off your vocal stylings at Wired Cafe's open-mic night. After the Chick Jam, go across the street to Martin's for Outformation, or down the block to Fire for a triple bill with Saliva, Splendid Chaos and Adetilas Way.

Saturday is a day to roll out early for fresh, Mississippi-grown produce. The Mississippi Farmer's Market kicks off the new season at 8 a.m., with live music and tons of special goodies. At 9 a.m., head to Tougaloo for the Youth Hip-Hop Festival hosted by the ACLU. Too early? The annual Juneteenth Celebration in Battlefield Park starts at 10 a.m., and the Dog Days Festival in Ridgeland starts at 11 a.m.

If evening events are your style, Saturday has plenty of those, too, starting at 7:30 p.m. with the Writer's Spotlight at the Commons Gallery. But that's not all. The musical options for Saturday night have something for everyone, from Poets & Madmen at Fenian's to Larry Brewer at the Auditorium, and local favorites The Hardline Monks at Hal & Mal's. Make Sunday brunch a tradition, if you haven't already, by enjoying great food and music at Two Sisters, Sophia's or Fitzgeralds. Then, spend an enjoyable hour or two prowling the many art exhibits in Jackson, including "In Context" at the Arts Center or "Eudora Welty in New York" at the Mississippi Museum of Art. At 2 p.m., it's time to learn something new. Wake up and move with Capoeira at Butterfly Yoga, or join JFP columnist Kamikaze (aka Brad Franklin) and his guests on "A Closer Look" on 93.1 radio.
