Frank Bluntson, president of the Jackson City Council, will head meetings on Monday and Tuesday this week.

Jackson Public Schools board, special meeting, 5:30 p.m., school board meeting room, 621 S. State St.

Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr. and his transition team hold a forum at 6 p.m. in City Hall on the topic of planning and development. The public is invited. Free, call 601-874-8055.

Hinds County Human Resource Agency board of directors, 7 p.m., 258 Maddox Road, Jackson.

Thursday, July 16
Jackson City Council regular meeting, 10 a.m. The Council will approve payroll, among other agenda items.

State Board of Education meets at 10 a.m., fourth-floor board room, Central High Building, Griffith Street, Jackson.

Shadow Play Entertainment, Conversations Book Club and Hip-Hop and Books Literacy Campaign will present a town-hall meeting called "Hip Hop Under Obama: Change We Can Believe In?" The meeting will take place at Margaret Walker Alexander Library, 5:30 p.m., 2525 Robinson Street. Discussion about the hip-hop community's reaction to the election of President Obama through music, the way it addresses issues affecting them and its outlook on the future.

Friday, July 17
State board of Education meets at 8:30 a.m. in the fourth-floor board room of the Central High School Building, Griffith Street

State Board for Community and Junior Colleges meets at 9 a.m., 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson.
