Albright: Obama was right about Kissinger question

I was able to catch up with former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in the Media filing tent. I asked her what were the political costs of John McCain almost stalling the debate. Here's what she had to say:

I think that it was so weird, frankly. I think it showed an impulsiveness on his part...it also showed something else, that he's not someone who thinks that a president can do more than one thing at a time. Having worked for two presidents, I can assure you that you don't have the luxury on working on just one problem.

On who was right about the Kissinger question:

We all five, all five former secretaries of state agreed that it was important to talk to Iran. Secretary Kissinger was the one who said it should be at the highest level, the secretary of state level. We all agreed that there should be no preconditions ... the bottom line is that talking is not always loving. You deliver some tough messages, and you can't do it without talking to them.

wow - good deal, Brian, must have been fun to walk up to former Sec. of State and ask that. Do you think McCain was trying to confuse the issue? Trying to make Obama seem weak?
