When the eyes of the world are turned on the Presidential debate in Oxford this week, a special group of people will be spreading their message in what is called Issue Alley on the campus.

Donna Bagwell and a host of Gold Star and Blue Star families will be on hand to let the world know many people support what American troops are doing for the safety and well-being of every citizen in America.

"We have been invited to set up a table and pass out brochures, just to let those who are fighting for our freedom know that we love them and we care," Bagwell said.

A Gold Star mother, Bagwell lost her son, Lucas Tucker, to the war in Iraq during the summer of 2005.

When America was plunged into the war on terrorism in 2001 after the attacks on the World Trade Center, the President ordered troops to aggressively pursue terrorists who took refuge in Afghanistan and Iraq.

This increased the number of military "in harm's way" and military families left behind to support those who were waging war.

Families United for Our Troops and Their Mission, founded in the summer of 2005, is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization and is a grassroots coalition of Gold Star and Blue Star families including some with loved ones in harm's way, veterans, and Americans who share a deep appreciation for the men and women in uniform and support them in their efforts to make America safer by allowing them to complete their mission.
