This election is as done as burnt toast. It's not a question of if Obama wins, but by how much. A couple of things I took from the debate: McCain's belittling of a woman's health when it comes to abortion was extremely disastrous. Even women who are opposed to abortion should be horrified by that. Most people who oppose abortion are willing to come to compromise for a woman whose life is in danger. Another thing I took was how McCain tried to deflect the issue of how his supporters are behaving themselves at his and Sarah Palin's rallies by trying to make himself seem so hurt about things said about him by Obama supporters at their rallies, and by trying to make it seem that Obama was painting a broad brush about all of McCain's supporters. I would be wrong to say that everyone at Obama's rallies are at their best behavior. Sure, some have said and did horrible things towards McCain, but as far as I know, no one at Obama rallies have yelled out to kill McCain. Also, Obama never said that everyone at McCain/Palin rallies act that way. For McCain not to say anything about his crowds' behaviors and to deflect criticism from it speaks with much volume as verbally endorsing the behaviors. About that CBS post-debate poll, it's bad when a tie out-polls you, as it did for McCain.

Before we get too excited about the polls. Remember back in 2000 when all of the Florida exit polls had Gore winning, and guess what..he didn't. Remember back in 2004 when all the exit polls had Kerry winning and he guess again..he didn't. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_United_States_election_voting_controversies Subsequent investigations have concluded that the exit polls were correct however the election process had been violated. In Florida people were allowed to vote, but their votes were not counted because their names appeared on a purge list. The purge list was compiled by a company hired by the Republican Florida Sec of State (and Chairman of the Florida Bush Election Campaign) to remove all names of convicted felons in primarily minority communities. Not wanting to let a single felon slip by, the consultants were told that if a person had a "similiar" name to a convicted felon, the name would be thrown out. When the consultant protested that such a move would lead to an error rate of over 40% the Sec of State said.."Let it be". Actual error rate was 90.2% http://www.thenation.com/doc/20040517/palast Bush won the election and the consulting firm was hired by several South American politicos who were having similiar problems with "minority and indigenous Indian populations". The Sec of State ran for Congress where she served one erm and was subsequently voted out. In Ohio, the Republican Sec of State (and Chairman of the Ohio Bush Campaign)cast the deciding vote to purchase electronic voting machines (Diebold)that all independent computer experts and professors said were very easily tampered with, especially since they produced no paper audit record. Exit polls said Kerry won, voting machines said Bush won. Cas. I am scared of this, too. I don't know the research you cite, but ever since the all electronic voting (no paper record) came out I have been nervous. How can we know? Truly know? It's something I worry about. We looked at a corruption index in one of my classes lately, i'll try to find the link. Denmark was the highest as far as least corruption. US was maybe 18 or 20 on the list.

Maybe you think those are funny, Harry, but they are *true*. You're starting to sound like McCain–a tad bitter. Look, there is no shame in having supporting people who lied to you and tricked you. Hell, I voted for Bill Clinton. The shame, though, is in continuing to defend really bad behavior, and I suspect vote against your own best interest, even after the vast majority of Americans know they've been had. Come on over. I'm calling for John McCain and the RNC because you need to know that Barack Obama has worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, whose organization bombed the U.S. capitol, the Pentagon, a judge's home and killed Americans.
