Monkey in the Middle

A man brought a stuffed money with an Obama sticker on it to a McCain-Palin rally. When he saw that he was being videotaped, he tore the sticker off the doll and stuck it in his pocket. Then, he gives the doll to a child who just happened to be nearby:

L.W., there is a better video somewhere of this yuck actually carrying it into the building and showing it to the camera. Palin does bring out the best in people.

Oh, and can you imagine what having that man in your family must be like? Or the people around him who don't ask him to put it away. I remember being at a football game at Memorial Stadium when I was at Mississippi with my then-boyfriend, and a guy sitting in front of us started yelling "kill the n*gger!" when someone on the opposing team was hurt on the ground. My companion told him to shut up, that other people around him didn't want to hear that kind of talk. How frickin' hard can it be to stand up to people like this!?! It's the inaction that empowers them. Like when McCain will not not stand up to them in a meaningful way. I guess he's too much of a past generation. I don't know. It's awful. I will say here, folks, that I am really sorry that there are white people out there that still act like this. We're trying, and I believe we'll get there. Hold on. It's like the people we've kicked off this site who disparaged people of other races and tried to couch racist insults in verbosity and victim whining. We all have to stand up to them and say, "you're not welcome here." Let them go spend their time digging around in their own navels and obsessing over how the world has down them wrong; society doesn't have time to give them the time of friggin' day. Their day has passed.

In addition, here's a comment on the YouTube page that made me wonder if some portions of the population are going into some sort of denial phase: Who says he's a Republican? After the George Allen "Macaca" incident, Democrats have been making great use of video cameras, cell phone cameras, etc, to try and either set up Republicans or even stage false events. For all we know, this guy has an Obama sign in his front yard. Say what?????

L.W., that's why they're are called "WINGNUTS". Wingnuts cling to a belief in magical unregulated free markets --- like lucky charms or Palin's witch doctor --- no one knows how these things work --- doggone it, you have to believe. They believe. Trust me. So to hell with the facts and video and whatnot --- it's all a conspiracy by the gays, lesbians, Arabs, libruls, African Americans, Mexicans and uh, the hollywood celebrities. You didn't know? A true wingnut will tell you that you need to watch Fox Nuts and stop getting that reality-based nonsense from CNN and MSNBC.

Even if the Monkey Man was doing this as a set-up, it's a very stupid and ill-advised move on his part. But the fears about Obama that McCain and Palin have put out there have fanned the flames for people like the Monkey Man to show such jaw-dropping disrespect for a man who has so far dispelled any myths that have been put out about Obama. And I've still yet to hear or read an apology from the McCain-Palin camp for all the shenanigans from their audiences.
