Creative Autumn Activities [For Adults!]: Mod Coloring Books

height="141" />

I'm not quite sure what's come over me the last few weeks, but I just can't seem to get enough coloring in. Yep, I said coloring. As in: sheet after glorious sheet of stained glass outlined images just begging to be filled in with your coloring medium of choice. And by this, I am not referring to Hello Kitty or the latest Disney princess. We're talking full on modern images suitable for us adults! So suitable that their finished brilliance would be all but wasted on the fridge door. These beauties would be amazing framed and hung in the living room, a child's mod bedroom, or even made into homespun cards or book covers.

Last week I spotted a coloring book full of Charlie Harper images at, of all places, Old Navy. Seems that the famed illustrator is making somewhat of a comeback and emerging in the most mainstream of places, even though those [design aficionados] in-the-know already worship him devoutly. This fabulous find prompted me to start looking online for more mod books I could attack with a box of crayolas [which, by the way, are only one way to enjoy your books--felt tip markers, oil pastels and even acrylic paints, depending on the paper, will achieve very different/pleasing results]. I found architectural images and mod furniture note-come-coloring-books; contemporary art masterpieces and whimsical-modern images designed for kids--but so streamlined that adults would love them too! And might I add, coloring is the perfect tension taming activity for a cold autumn day...
