Koinonia Coffee House To Hold Grand Opening on June 6

As the Jackson Free Press alerted you in our Young Influentials issue several weeks ago, Koinonia Coffee House is about to open in West Jackson—this Friday. We urge everyone to help make Koinonia a wide success. Here's a verbatim press release from the owners:

JACKSON, Miss. – Koinonia Coffee House, a locally owned and operated café, will celebrate its Grand Opening on Friday, June 6, 2008, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 am. Opening festivities will continue Friday evening, with a live performance by Doug Eltzroth, Artist-in-Residence at Belhaven College, beginning at 7:00 pm.

A partnership between Lee Harper and Alexis Spencer-Byers, Koinonia Coffee House has grown out of a years-old desire to bring specialty coffee and other amenities to the west Jackson area, including the Jackson State University community. Koinonia is pleased to carry fair-trade coffees, roasted locally by Jazz & Java Coffee Company in Madison, MS. In addition to coffee and espresso beverages, Koinonia will also serve a variety of pastries, desserts, smoothies, sandwiches and breakfast items. Free wireless internet service, as well as two desktop workstations, will be available for patrons of the coffee house. In addition, Koinonia will feature music, displays by local artists, book signings, community forums and other programming designed to celebrate the capital city's strengths and contribute to its growth.

Koinonia is conveniently located along the Metro Parkway, just west of downtown Jackson. Operating hours are Monday, 7:00 am – 9:00 pm; Wednesday – Saturday, 7:00 am – 9:00 pm; and Sunday, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.
