What a sorry piece of crap Thompson was. He makes me ashamed to be a southerner. Southerners are often infested with a debilitating flaw they can't seem to overcome, but at least they're fighters. I could barely tell Thompson was in the race and I certainly didn't see any fighting or cerebration or critical thinking. Before him I thought you had to be smart to be an actor or senator. Boy, I was wrong. He's a slow screwball. I say deadweigt out of the way.

I'd have to agree. Thompson always seemed to be sleepwalking through the whole process. I'm growing alarmed at the tone of the debates between Hillary and Obama however. Their display last night was nothing less than shameful, though I still think that Obama came out ahead of Hillary. What they are accomplishing now is a massive turn-off of voters and virtually guaranteeing a Republican win in November.

I agree Tom. I'm afraid Obama is close to saying, "Look _____, shut the hell up. I see why no one can hardly stand your ___." But he better not say it though! He has to return to a cool mastery of facts and deliberations. Hillary is acting desperate and would like nothing better than to make him blew up. We black folks can't have him loose his cool and play into steroetypes. It's likely not advisable to overly attack Bill either considering his affinity in the world although I'd like to see someone other than Obama give him a good cussing out right now, for not tending to his business. No, I don't blame him for helping his wife. Maybe Jessie or Al will cuss out Bill and tell him to screw off somewhere. He should have any problem doing that! Smile As for Thompson, what a waste of money and airtime! Surely, the republicans didn't know he was so weak and feeble. He may even be suffering from sometimers, the prelude to altheimers.

For those who don't know, I have been one of Hillary's biggest supporters for years. Her style and manner of debating are quite unnerving and bothersome to me at this point. I'll still vote for her though if Obama and Edwards aren't available.

What's so bad, Ray, is that I WANT to like her. I really do. I want to be 100% behind the first viable female candidate for president. Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to settle for the "black man". :P Bill Maher did a bit on his show last night where he went out on the streets and asked black females which way they were voting. He was trying to support the theory some outlets have reported regarding black females being torn between a female candidate and a black man. Most of them said, "I'm voting for the black man." AMEN SISTER! *I'm* voting for the black man, as well!! If I can't get a vagina in that office, I'd settle for a large black man. :) Any day of the week and twice on Sunday...;)

Yes, and the appeal of Bill Clinton's charm might start wearing off as he takes the gloves off and goes after Obama (on behalf of the woman he scorned). Ah, the webs they weave.

And thus the most nonchalant Presidential bid made in recent history comes to an end. For a well-known Hollywood character actor he sure couldn't act like he was interested in being President. I only liked the guy because he had a young cutie for a wife.

Very interesting. He was supposed to be the great hope of the Republican party.

He was the media's great hope of the Republican Party. When Thompson was exploring whether or not he would run, the media were fawning over themselves. They acted almost as if no other Republican in the race mattered. But the media loves to prop up celebrities who run for office, though they don't really offer much for us to vote for them. Just something to sell papers and to get you to watch "Entertainment Tonight".

You are soooo on target, golden. I've long thought that the talking heads on the cable news channels, plus the so-called political experts on network tv literally created the Fred Thompson candidacy. I even heard one, early on, refer to him as Reaganesque! If he was nothing else--whether you hated his politics and policies as vehemently as I did--Regan was smooth, powerfully articulate and persuasive, and looked the part, if you will. Thompson, on the other hand, came across as a lazy, neanderthalish good old country boy who should have known (or at least his momma and wife should have told him) that he was wasting his time running for President. It's gotten to the point where we have too many supposed 'journalists' wearing commentator's hats, conjecturing about this and pontificating about that; prognosticating about this and opining about that, saying the same thing over and over again, until the average John Q. Public tends to believe what they say as the Gospel According to Russert! Last night, Wolf Blitzer was so busy trying to stir up a Clinton-Obama controversy that he asked very few relevant policy questions such as, 'what will you do to upgrade our public school systems in this country? Even after Edwards nailed it with his talk about working to eliminate poverty in this country, there were no follow up questions about it from what I saw. I remember the Democratic debate in Philadelphia when, leading up to it, the talking heads were saying that in order for Obama to have a chance against the "Clinton juggernaut", both he and Edwards were going to have to mount an all-out attack on Hillary. Russert's first question was to Hillary and, right off the bat, he and Chris Matthews effectively tag-teamed her all night long. Then what did they do? They started the post-debate banter about how Hillary seemed less effective than before, and she was losing ground fast. As an African American man, I support Obama; but what the media did to Hillary was unethical and inexcusable, IMHO. It's like they stake out their own opinion, and then do everything they can to ensure that the result is what they said it would be. That amounts to the media's twisted version of self fulfilling prophesies. I just wish they'd stop it!

Ick. I don't dig the Clintons, but Dick Morris is a pig. Somehow I ended up on his e-mail list, and his e-mails almost make me like them better. Isn't he the dude who got famous with the prostitute or such? I seem to recall.

Suite 202 at the Hotel Jefferson, if I'm correct. There's a good deal of ick going around. Both Morris and the Clintons make one want to take a bath....
