Important Legislative Dates

Here's a calendar of prominent legislative actions for the upcoming session. Voters may want to consider attending and showing support for bills they favor on certain deadline dates. Call your local legislator for more information.

Jan. 8: Regular session of the Mississippi Legislature convenes at noon

Feb. 21: Deadline for making requests for general bills and constitutional amendments to be drafted.

Feb. 25: Deadline for introduction of bills and constitutional amendments

March 11: Deadline for committee to report bills and constitutional amendments originating in their own House.

March 20: Deadline for original floor action on bills and constitutional amendments originating in their own House.

March 21: Deadline for reconsideration and passage of bills and constitutional amendments originating in own House.

March 24: Deadline to dispose of motions to reconsider bills and constitutional amendments originating in own House.

April 2: Deadline for original floor action on appropriations and revenue bills originating in own House.

April 3: Deadline for reconsideration and passage of and revenue bills originating in own House.

April 4: Deadline to dispose of motions to reconsider appropriations and revenue bills originating in own House.

April 8: Deadline for committees to report bills and constitutional amendments originating in other House.

April 16: Deadline for original floor action on bills and constitutional amendments originating in other House.

April 17: Deadline for reconsideration and passage of bills and constitutional amendments originating in other House.

April 18: Deadline to dispose of motions to reconsider bills and constitutional amendments originating in other House.

April 22: Deadline for original floor action on appropriations and revenue bills originating in other House.

April 23: Deadline for reconsideration/passage of appropriations and revenue bills originating in other House.

April 24: Deadline to dispose of motions to reconsider appropriations and revenue bills originating in other House.

April 25: Deadline to concur or not concur in amendments from other House to appropriations and revenue bills.

April 27: Deadline for introduction of local and private bills that are revenue bills.

April 28: Deadline to dispose of motions to reconsider concurrence or nonconcurrence in appropriations and revenue bills.

May 1: Deadline to concur or not concur in amendments from other house to general bills and constitutional amendments.

May 3: Deadline for conference reports on appropriations and revenue bills to be filed.

May 4: Deadline for introduction of local and private bills that are not revenue bills.

May 5: Deadline for final adoptions of conference reports on appropriations and revenue bills and for conference reports on general bills and constitutional amendments to be filed.

May 6: Deadline to dispose of motions to reconsider conference reports on appropriations and revenue bills.

May 7: Deadline for first consideration of conference reports on general bills and constitutional amendments.

May 8: Deadline for filing conference reports on general bills and constitutional amendments that had been recommitted for further conference.

May 9: Deadline for adoption of conference reports on general bills and constitutional amendments after recommittal.

May 10: Deadline to dispose of motions to reconsider conference reports on general bills and constitutional amendments.

May 11: Get the hell up the road. You've done enough damage.
