Miss. Reps. Split on Auto Bailout

Mississippi's congressmen are divided on the prospect of a bailout for the domestic auto industry. Reps. Gene Taylor (D) and Bennie Thompson (D) voted for a $14 billion rescue package for General Motors and Chrysler yesterday, while Reps. Chip Pickering (R) and Travis Childers (D) voted against it. Now the bill travels to the Senate, where its chances look less favorable. Sens. Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker have already indicated their opposition to a bailout. This morning, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell's spoke out against the bill on the Senate floor.

The issue is very simple, the mentallity of most of our Southern Politicians is that they can use this Bill to destroy Unions in this Country and the hell with the future of our Country and it's citizens. These people do not want unions but they are the same as unions and are to stupid to see it. They belong to the lodges that bring people with like interest together, just like the different political parties, churches and other special interest groups. These people paid for membership, dues, donations to maintain and support their organizations just like the Democrats and Republican paid for their memberships. The reason this bill is being voted down is because these Southerners want to keep the poor people under their control while they keep making money off the poor people in the South. How much money you think they could make if they voted for you to have safe working conditions, better health benefits, better education, better medical benefits, better homes. What these type of Politicians are doing is supporting companies to come into the South and pay our people less for the work that they do in order for them to make more money. This is a shame while the rest of the country is fighting for the rights of the working people.

Amen, Hot Sauce. You are right on the money about why certain elected officials vote a particular way. It is very simple, as you so eloquently described. To add my 2cents, The SOUTH wants slavery as evidenced by the continued waving of the confederate flag and the congressional vote against everything that has the potential for helping; however, they must settle for an underclass. This class has only one qualification - poor. Race does not matter much. Where were these folks on the banks bail out? The CEO's of these companies got millions. There is no oversight; banks won't lend money and we will never see one penny of a return on the tax payer's dollar.
