(Verbatim from MDOT) JACKSON, MISS., --- The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) announces the following traffic information. Officially LA/MS Hurricane Gustav Contraflow operations for Interstates 55 and 59 will terminate at 4:45 p.m., Sunday August 31, 2008. Louisiana is in the process of handing off Contraflow to Mississippi. MDOT anticipates it taking around four (4) hours to clear traffic in order to place the southbound contraflowed interstate back to normal southbound flow.

MDOT encourages motorists to continue to drive safely while traveling. If you would like to view the evacuation map on line, log onto http://www.goMDOT.com. MDOT Call Center is still active for the public's convenience to obtain traffic information. Just in: Traffic Upate: MDOT Drawbridge Alert JACKSON, MISS., Sunday, August 31, 2008---The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) announces the following traffic information. MDOT wishes to advise motorists that the I-110, Highway 609, and Cowan Lorraine Road drawbridges are being opened to allow boats to access safe harbor. There will be short interruptions to car traffic in order to accommodate boat traffic. MDOT must insure that both modes of transportation are provided safe routes.
