Is Clarion-Ledger Comatose at the Wheel?

I am simply astounded to see that, right this second, the top "breaking news" on the Ledger's site is this by Chris Joyner (who is about to be promoted to investigative reporter, we're told): "New trial date set for Melton, bodyguards." Adam found this out a full week ago, and reported it six days ago. Six. Not yesterday. Not Friday. What is up over there?!? Or, not up, we should ask. No wonder they're in such trouble.

Not only that, but Jimmie Gates posted an update today on the Sharrod Moore trial being delayed—without ever giving the reason why, even though there are dozens of pages in the motion about it. It's because the defense is accusing the DA of (a.) not providing discovery materials and (b.) because the DA alleged a police "cover-up" in articles in the Jackson Free Press, which are part of the motion. Here's the rest of the story.

Gates (or his editor) has ignored the motions about the battle over the "cover-up" for weeks now. Are they simply going to ignore an important part of the news because another media outlet beat them to it? Don't answer. They've proved the answer to that over and over again. Geesh.

IF it were not for the JFP, we would all die of blind ignorance. Thank God for JFP, and to borrow from a phrase from CNN: JFP, The Most Trusted Name in Mississippi News!
