Courthouse Fitness Opening in Jackson Place Downtown

[Verbatim statement] April 15, 2008—Parkway Properties Inc. (NYSE:PKY) announced today that the Courthouse Racquet and Fitness Center has signed a five-and-a-half year, 10,000 square foot lease to bring a premier fitness facility to downtown Jackson. The facility will be located in the Shops at Jackson Place, on the ground floor of the newly renovated Parking at Jackson Place facility.

The Shops at Jackson Place offer 60,000 square feet of retail space and are part of the Jackson Place development in the heart of downtown. The facility is expected to open in the fall of 2008 and will offer first-class facilities, equipment, personal training, and exercise classes, including classes tailored for the professional.

Steven G. Courthouse Racquet and Fitness is locally owned and operated by Johnny Black and Elisabeth Culbertson. I'm glad to hear that they're returning to the downtown area. I remember when they left, and as a kid, I wondered how they could call themselves the Courthouse when they weren't near a courthouse.
