For a first event I thought it was marvelous. Obviously we have some kinks to work out:-) but the crowd was enthusiatic and receptive to the new things they were seeing. And the ART was fantastic. That was arguably the best part of the night. So kudos to Daniel, Shondra, Josh, and Roy for making the event go well. Our next one will be bigger and better. the blues band Issippi was great. Look them up. Finally saw Red Hill city, and I met jfp blogger lucdix(THANKS for coming) sorry i didnt hit the stage. I sacrificed my time so Red Hill could get their well-deserved shine

Thursday evening was busy for me. I left the reconciliation forum at Millsaps early to come home to finish a web design project I had to 'get out the door' then headed down to Hal & Mal's. I know the organizers would have liked more people but as a visitor I was glad I had time to talk to the artists and performers, including meeting you, Kaze. I'll catch another of your shows sometime, I'm sure. I timed arriving there at 9:30 to see the MissiHippy Dancers, who are always great, but Michele Campbell told me I really should have come half an hour earlier to see 'M.I.A' who were excellent. I'll make a point of catching them next time, was told this morning there'll be another Collective show in February. I did get to hear Blaque Butterfly and Issippi and Red Hill, all excellent performers, and I loved all the art, got to see a number of people I hadn't seen since the Crossroads Film Festival. Great music, great art, great people - Jackson! (Hey, let's make that the official city motto instead of 'City of Grace and Benevolence') Is that motto for real? I second the kudos to Daniel, Shondra, Josh, Roy, and Jerri for the great organization, even joined up at the door.

I hate that I missed it, but I had to go home after the forum at Millsaps. Hopefully I can catch the next one.

Hi ALL!!! I'm a bit late on commenting. But, I think everyone else did a great job of summing up the event. First, I would like to say that I think we have a fabulous team. That's what it takes to create and develop effective events. As Kamikaze said, this was a wonderful start and there is definitely more to come from the Collective. I was happy to see some of the veteran artists, who have kind of paved the way for the up and coming artists. It's always refreshing to see them and their work. I won't mention names because I don't want to leave anyone out. You all know who you are. Thanks to Hal and Mals for allowing us to have this event at their establishment. You all have great Gumbo by the way! LOL! I can't wait until the next one!

Kaze, I know you'll always do the right thing, especially after I have laid some deep guilt and blame on you. If it's any consolation, I put my foot in your rump regualarly because I know you're good people and have so much potential. I hope the Almighty soon blesses you to be all you can be. Peace, until the next time.

I thank ya much Ray. I know your intentions are good. But don't worry. Youve laid no guilt or blame my way. Trust. I appreciate the verbal jousts. At least you DO engage. But foot in my rump? cmon brother the view must be preeety rosy on your end LOL. To say anything else would be an acknowledgement of defeat and you were faaaaaar from making that compelling of a case counselor. Probably from YOUR end LOL. I pray that you too gain a little more insight as well. You never stop learning ya know. Even you trecherous, decietful, money hungry lawyers can one day see the light. sometimes I think its just useless to talk to you guys 'cause all of you are in it for the almighty dollar. You should all work pro bono LOL. in the meantime...Im gonna try to keep growing. Ciao.

I must admit I'm impressed by the way you compare our careers. It took you a while though. Must be some coaching involved. Indeed too many, likely nearly all, lawyers are in it for the money nowadays. It getting worse too as a result of the new generation coming into our domain. I'm clearly not in it for the money as since 2001 I'm a public defender working for broke people who can't afford a lawyer. The Almighty had blessed me to not be poor before I took the job, and frankly even the job doesn't render me poverty-stricken. I hope I'm doing something that helps the unfortunate, the damned, depised and those who never had a chance. You should see how glad my clients are to see someone with courage, intellect and talent to take on the so-called mighty government. I enjoy the job although I'm always supposedly outnumbered and outgunned. When it's too rough for everyone else it just right for me. I'm a playa from the himalaya. LOL. Sunday morning I heard Banner on CSPAN. He was impressing me until he used his "Bible in a Playboy Cover" axiom or scenario. I was also disappointed that he didn't seem to know what he could do better to improve what he does. Saying if I get bigger then maybe I can do more is classic evasion and unconcern for the present. I'm glad there wern't any women questioning him too; otherwise, I fear he likely would have said "Shake it fast, and show me what you working with" before he answered any questions for them. He, he.

No coaching Ray..just didnt need to stoop to that analogy to get my point across..No need for me to make a broad sweeping generalization of lawyers because you're obviously in your own lane as am I. So understand my problem with the group labeling thing. i could have long ago used the lawyer analogy because truth be told youve got some cleaning up to do in that realm so you shoudl be busy LOL. i only used the analogy for comic relief. I can joust with you without it. The analogy that Banner used is one we created together for our first album Grey Skies (Crooked Lettaz. google it. its a southern classic) and at face value I see that you dont get the analogy so let me explain. A Bible with a Playboy Cover means simply that you are drawn in at face value by the packaging but upon further review and an in depth listen you will find that you have been drawn into something totally different. something that aims to reach and teach as well as entertain you. Most people will pick up something with flashy or seductive covers thinking they will see something else but end up actually learning something. thats what he and I have pledged to do. You see Ray, you have a different breed with Banner and I. So i wouldnt sell him short. Our methodology may be different, delivery may be varied but we both aim to change our current conditions through our voices.

I actually did kind of get it. I simply had complications, based on my old-school upbringing, going there. Alright, I'll get off your and Banner's tip before y'all put a hit on me. It's actually the other rappers that I wish I could talk to as well. Y'all obviously aren't like some of the nuts I saw on the PEG network showing a local rap scene. I watched a little bit of that trying to gain some insight. I doubt I gaineed much insight as I couldn't get with some of the gold and silver grills, rough lyrics, dancing, and prancing with the pants nearly at the ankles. I was tempted to drive over there and say will you dudes please pull your brithches up on your rusty asses. LOL. Anyway, if there is ever anything I can do from a distance to help and improve the cause let me know.
