Ayana followed Jim Giles out of the JFP Youth Voter Rally at Hal & Mal's in 2003 to make sure he got to his car OK after his incendiary remarks.

Visiting reporter Matt Saldaña totaled Donna Ladd's Miata when he stalled at a red light on assignment in South Jackson and a Lincoln Navigator rear-ended the tiny convertible into an accordion. He managed to drive the car to the interview and complete the story.

The Era of the Office Mice—with all the JFP men scurrying away at least as fast as the women, except for Darren Schwindaman and Adam Lynch. Adam would catch mice with his hands, put them in a big popcorn tin with holes punched in top, and drive them to a park to set them free. The mice disappeared after we got an office cat, Little Deuce McAllister.

After Casey Parks cut tiger stripes into her hair, she also got a tattoo, which she hid from Donna Ladd for months. When she finally revealed it, Donna was dumbfounded as to why she hid a tattoo after coming in with the "mange" haircut! (Donna, after all, has a tattoo, too.)

Lynette Hanson met David Banner at a gas station, whereupon he and his posse gave her a hip-hop name, Curly Gee.

My favorite JFP moment was just a few weeks ago when the college football preview edition featured the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on the cover. I'm not quite sure why that is so.
