Show #3 went pretty well technically, but we didn't have it set up to record. WLEZ has a new control board, which was nice -- it's much easier to bring music and microphones up and down like you're supposed to. :-) But, I failed at the last minute to get my latest brainstorm for recording the show to work (Donna's little digital reporter's recorder is great, but I need just the right cables to hook it up) so no podcast yet. HOPEFULLY next week's show.

I just woke up--slept right through this! I'm sure Brent did an amazing job, though. He's a good egg--a great addition to the ACLU and the JackBlog! Cheers, TH

I'm gonna try to remind myself to listen to the show. I'll only be able to catch the last half-hour since my lunch break isn't until 12:30 and I can't get WLEZ on any radio except in the car.

I know a podcast hint when I see one. I think they have the main board back now; maybe we can finally start getting good digital recordings. Meantime, if anyone out there wants to back us up on it and send it to us ...

I listened to the show and thought it was good. I just hope I live long enough to see some of the projects Ben Allen talked about. I'm tired of driving throughout the country and seeing marvelous views, structures and scenes that make me stop, view, or visit when the same thing is rarely possible here. I want even mention never hearing anyone say I stopped in such and such place in Mississippi because I saw such and such things. I want to see something man-made that is wonderful, pleasing, overwhelming, and truly worth bragging about right here at home before I die or can't walk anymore. If I can just see this in my sixties and early seventies I can spend my remaining years cursing out folks who need it and claiming to be old and amnesic. I'm making a list and Santa Claus ain't got nothing on me with his list. And Brian, you were wonderful on the show today! Smile.

I only caught the ending where Ben was yucking it up about the helicopter and keeping Melton off of it. I could care less. I wish he could fly in the copter. Ben and his friends certainly wanted us to think Frank was the best choice before he was elected. He was the freaking savior of Jackson for cripes sake! Let the man fly... As long as he is kept from naturally showing his ass then we are held hostage to this administration. Not all of are rich enough or live in well protected areas to weather the storm. But, what do our representatives care? Huge portions of Ward 1 are becoming more dangerous daily with little being done. Every time a person takes two homes in Ben's neighborhood and builds one big one, a potential candidate loses 2 to 4 potential votes to attrition. Yet, the areas of Ward 1 north of the Walgreen's at Old Canton will continue to draw in more progressive residents who will overtake the blue-blood NE Jax vote. Having a big empty grocery store in the middle of a huge NE Jax revenue center is only hastening the decline and exodus to Ridgeland shopping areas. Obviously, Phil Bryant or Haley could give a flip if Melton makes a mess of Jackson. But, let a teacher accuse the sup. of homosexual innuendos and the State is on that like white on rice! Maybe I needed to hear the whole show. I didn't think it was too funny. Especially when I heard Ben using the indictments as an excuse for not confirming the Fire Chief. Whatever.

Here is my link to the .mp3 podcast of show. I threw it up on my personal blog. I assume JFP will podcast this themselves soon. Also, what ever became of the idea of video casting of the PEG network rebroadcasts of city council meetings? Does the JFP get audio and video from PEG? Also, this site is throwing the following error on preview. Notice: Undefined property: comment_id in /home/jacksonf/public_html/stories/lib/comment.fns.php on line 534 PREVIEW:

I noticed the error message too. Thanks for the link Niles. I heard that PEG is decimated as far as staff and equipment goes. Anyone remember that Whitlow supposedly got shifted over there before he faded away and back to WJTV?

It is rumored that the PEG facilities have been or are about to be sold. the whole parking garage as a matter of fact. Can anyone tell me if this is true?? If so what will happen to public radio??

I missed it! However, I was at the doctor with a nasty sinus infection. I've been living with it for two weeks, because I couldn't get off work to go. I'll listen to the podcast when I can. Thanks for that link!

They better not sell PEG! And, we darn sure better know WHO it is being sold to if they are trying! They don't handle public radio; but, do have the local tv stations that broadcast the council meetings and stuff like that. In another two years Kenny may be the only councilperson able to keep their job!
